Interactive Solo Performance: Through The Head
During my time in graduate school in New York, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a solo performing artist on an experimental performance piece that also served as my thesis work. The performer created a fragmenting story about a daughter grappling with her mother's sudden memory loss. To enhance the story's impact, I designed and built a set installation that could interact with video and sound elements. The performers had full control over everything that happened on stage, allowing them to integrate the digital medium into the drama's nonlinear narrative. Through this project, my goal was to explore the possibilities of how digital technology could intervene in the storytelling process, rather than simply providing a traditional stage backdrop. I also wanted to investigate how the performers' interactive behavior could influence the performing style, and how the use of technology could add new dimensions to the audience's experience.
